Spot

Support and contact

Spot is a colour picker for the real world. Point your camera at anything, drag a frame around it or land the loupe on a single pixel, and keep the colours you find.

Common questions

Where are my palettes stored?
On your iPhone, inside Spot's own storage. They are never uploaded. They are included in your iPhone backup, and deleting the app deletes them.
Why is the colour slightly different from the object?
Spot reports what the camera measured under locked exposure and white balance. Glare, coloured room lighting, and reflections all change what the sensor actually sees. Sampling a flat, evenly lit surface gives the truest reading.
Can I sample a colour off a screen?
You can, but treat it as an approximation. A camera pointed at a display picks up glare and moiré, and it measures the display through the camera's own colour rendering. It is good for "roughly what colour is that" and poor for recovering an exact hex value.
Does Spot need an internet connection?
No. Spot has no networking code at all and works entirely offline.
Can I rename a palette?
Yes. Tap the palette's name to rename it, either in the results deck or in your Spotted library.
